Which boiler type is right for your home?
There is no single right answer — the correct boiler depends on your hot water demand, the number of bathrooms, the mains water pressure at your property and whether you plan to add renewables later. We survey the property first and recommend on that basis, not on what we happen to have in the van.
- Combi boilers — heating and instant hot water from one wall-mounted unit, no cylinder required. Best suited to homes with one bathroom and good mains pressure.
- System boilers — work with an unvented hot water cylinder to serve several bathrooms at once at full pressure.
- Heat only (conventional) boilers — retain an existing tank and cylinder arrangement, often the least disruptive swap in older properties.
- Hybrid arrangements — a gas boiler paired with an air source heat pump, so you keep boiler backup while cutting running costs.
What is included in a BBI boiler installation
We quote on the whole job, not just the appliance. Every installation is carried out by our own Gas Safe registered engineers.

Smart controls and system upgrades
A new boiler only delivers its rated efficiency if the rest of the system lets it. We routinely upgrade controls and zoning at the same time as the boiler — it is far cheaper to do it in one visit.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a boiler installation take?
A straightforward like-for-like combi swap is usually a single day. A conversion — for example from a conventional system with a tank in the loft to a combi — normally takes two days. We confirm the expected duration in your written quote before you commit.
What warranty do I get on a new boiler?
It depends on the appliance. We can offer up to 18 years warranty on ATAG boilers. Vaillant and Worcester Bosch carry their own manufacturer warranty periods, which we register for you on completion. On top of the manufacturer warranty, every BBI installation carries a 2 year workmanship warranty as standard.
Do you cover my area?
We are based in Southampton and Eastleigh and cover all SO postcodes — including Southampton, Totton, Hythe, Lyndhurst, West Wellow, Romsey, Stockbridge, Kings Worthy and the surrounding areas.
Can you service the boiler after you have installed it?
Yes. We service gas, oil and electric boilers, and heat pumps. A gas boiler interim service is £70 + VAT and a full strip-down service is £95 + VAT. You can also book a service online.
Should I fit a boiler or move to a heat pump?
If your property is well insulated and you want to cut carbon and running costs, an air source heat pump is worth costing — the Boiler Upgrade Scheme currently offers £7,500 towards an air source heat pump installation. Because we install both, we can quote you for both and let you compare like for like. Most installers only sell one of the two.
